Abstract

This study focused on the language use of three generations of Filipino-Chinese when communicating with different interlocutors in the following domains: home, school, work, church, and the community. The study also focused on the three generations’ language usage during formal and informal speech situations and functions. In addition, the study also surveyed whether the home or school plays a more influential role in their language usage of English, Pilipino and Chinese languages. Furthermore, the study surveyed whether the Filipino-Chinese language proficiency has a direct, significant relationship with language usage.
